The original idea was to create an electronic menu that would make it possible to place orders without the aid of a waiter. This could be done by a touch screen that was connected by wireless Internet to one or two large computers in a given restaurant.
The menu would guide customers through the ordering process. The good thing about the idea is that it is possible to send an order to the kitchen by pressing a button. Similarly, when it is time to pay, customers notify the kitchen by electronic menu and the waiter comes with the bill.
This idea would result in a new and innovative restaurant experience, and customers would no longer have to attempt to get the attention of a waiter when they wish to order or pay. Ordering by electronic menu would also make it faster to order new drinks during a meal.
